Outputs
A bundle of Ichimoku lines — Tenkan, Kijun, Senkou A and B (the cloud), and Chikou — that you can tap individually. Price above the cloud is bullish, below is bearish, and inside the cloud is undecided.
Ichimoku is a multi-line system that shows trend, support/resistance, and momentum in one picture. It plots two fast/slow average lines (Tenkan and Kijun), a shaded 'cloud' projected ahead (Senkou A and B), and a lagging confirmation line (Chikou).
How it works
Tenkan and Kijun are midpoints of the highest high and lowest low over their lookbacks (default 9 and 26 bars). Senkou A is the average of those two and Senkou B is the midpoint over a longer window (default 52), both shifted forward by the displacement (default 26) to form the cloud. Chikou is the close plotted that many bars back.
Configuration
Lookback for the Tenkan (conversion) line — the fast midpoint of the highest high and lowest low. Smaller reacts quickest. 9 is the classic default.
Lookback for the Kijun (base) line — a slower midpoint that acts as a trend and support/resistance reference. 26 is the classic default.
Lookback for Senkou Span B — the longer-window midpoint that forms the far edge of the cloud. Larger makes a flatter, slower cloud boundary. 52 is the classic default.
How many bars forward the cloud (Senkou A/B) is shifted and how many bars back the Chikou line is plotted. 26 is the classic default and usually matches the Kijun period.

Examples
- Trend filter: only take longs when price is above the cloud and Tenkan is above Kijun, confirming an established uptrend.
- Entry trigger: combine a Tenkan-over-Kijun cross with a cloud breakout for a confirmed momentum entry.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting the cloud is shifted forward by displacement — it describes projected support/resistance, not the current bar's value.
- Trading every Tenkan/Kijun cross in a flat market; inside the cloud the signals chop and the trend reading is unreliable.
